Baby size?

A friend had her baby on Wednesday - not a Leo  :(  - the only person I've ever heard of that had her baby on the day she was due.  She's had a 9 pound baby (pretty big as she's not much bigger than me), but what size does that translate to?  00 or 0?   9 pounds sounds huge but I'm sure I was 9 pounds or close to.  Poor girl had 6!! displaced ribs ( Read more... )

In terms of baby gear the sizes per brand are incredibly varied. Big W/Kmart sizes are huge and "boutique" places tend to be smaller. I'd say baby would be in a 000 at the moment, but remember if you get bigger they will fit it at some point. So if you bought a pack of 0 (or 00) body suits they'll fit them in the next few months (summer I guess). Also, toys are good gifts for first baby's. Things like wooden toys with bells in them, or linking rings, or soft books, or anything that can be hit and make a noise or bounce back at them. Try and stay away from plastic battery stuff, and get something that you wont hate the sound of after three hours of waving it in the air ( ... )

Wow, thanks for the hugely detailed response! A bit to think about :) I have learnt that noisy toys are only for kids when you don't like the parents that much :)

Might go the way of the activity mat if I can get a few people together, and if I can pull my digit out cook some freezable food for mum and dad.

I got a mat thing, the range at Target and Big W was abysmal.. had to venture in to Babys r' Us which would normally terrify me but it was really empty. Noone had that exact Fisher Price one but I think I got the same thing but with an underwater theme, which works as Dad is a scuba diver :)

Mae was 9 pounds 5. She was in 000 for about two weeks before outgrowing them. I'd say go for at least 00, but all the new season stuff is out now so some 0 clothes for summer would work. Better off getting something cooler because you layer babies anyway.

The toy shop at Doncaster is the best. The one next to Pumpkin Patch. They have clothes as well, and a lot of their toys are made of organic materials.

Fwoor, some big babies around :) I may not need to do the clothes thing as I got a play mat and Elmo's offered to go around and take some newborn photos with Paul & Natasha so that they're both in them and get pics of Ben whilst he's small. Do babies heads pop in to shape straight away, or is it a couple of days?
