Hello again, Demeleierites! It is time for you monthly Watch meeting, which will be held by Valeria and Souji at 1 PM on the 27th at Town Hall.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the meetings, Valeria said it best
HERE. The Watch holds meetings in order to discuss Demeleier's current affairs and faery hijinks on the twenty-seventh of every month at one o’clock sharp at Town Hall. Residents of the village who are not part of the Watch are more than welcome and encouraged to attend. There's also food unless Med'an and Kyouko eat it all.
Please be aware that if your character is or is not present and doesn’t weigh in about something in this post if they are present that it will be taken as your character saying nothing ICly as everything that occurs in this post occurs ICly. It’s just faster and simpler to have an OOC organization post with quick responses as opposed to playing out meetings that involve a lot of characters every month to keep everyone on the same page. Meeting time and place is also widely common knowledge amongst the village and, unless otherwise stated, all subjects are open floor and discussion by members and residents is very much encouraged.
Valeria's secretary, Hermione, will be logging the meeting as always.
Attendance
If your character will be attending, please comment here! This meeting is open to all residents, not just Watch members.
The Agenda
• RE: Law/Justice System. Valeria and Souji will reiterate that after much careful deliberation, the subject of the creation of laws, the consequences for breaking them, and a means to enforce them is being put to the people for consideration and discussion. This decision was made in light of the village’s experiences with both Tohru Adachi and Sindragosa, both of whom took several lives, but also with the knowledge that the population is growing rapidly and that some people stand to reside in Demeleier for a very long time, long enough to necessitate something stronger than the general, unspoken rule of mutual respect of each other’s persons and mutual cooperation. The creation of a secondary agency to enforce the laws decided upon by the people has been deemed unrealistic and detrimental to the community as dividing members between the Watch and a secondary agency would put too much stress on the members of each agency and subsequently endanger the community. They will put forward that it is more realistic that the Watch handle the matter of enforcing the laws and that the means to do this needs to be discussed in tandem with proposed laws and consequences for breaking them.
There will be two sub-threads created in the comments for this category. The first will be for the pitching and discussion of laws and the consequences for breaking them. The second will be for discussion about how the Watch should handle enforcement of these laws. Firm movement toward the establishment of these things will be taking place after this meeting, so now is the time to weigh in!
• The Executive Board. Valeria and Souji will step forward and put forward this idea, which was proposed by Princess Zelda and built upon through
discussion at the last Watch meeting. The idea was to create an executive board comprised of a coalesced group of residents, ideally from different worlds so as to better represent the community and guarantee that the voices of all are heard and taken into account, that would act as representatives of the populace and function perhaps as judges when it comes to breaches of established law and adjustors of said laws when it is needed. It is also possible that this group might assist in the making of other important decisions that affect the community as a whole as necessary. It was proposed that the individuals that form this group be alternated every so often as to avoid lordships as the purpose of this group is to work in the best interests of everyone, not one or a select few. Discussion, opinions, and further development about this topic are absolutely encouraged.
• Sindragosa. Valeria and Ryuuga Asahi (Light) will be offering an update regarding progress made with Sindragosa, who will be stated to continue to cooperate with the Watch and endure her imprisonment, having gone so far as to return to the prison of her own accord following her apparent release during the timeline event. Valeria will go on to report that, when left undisturbed, Sindragosa is docile and prone to long periods of silence; she regularly reads anything and everything at her disposal, which includes the bestiary and the network, and puts considerable thought into the mentally challenging game of chess when it is played with her. She is sociable; her temperament can be volatile and she does not respond too well to questions, but she neither acts, nor reacts violently towards her visitors or guards and keeps her natural abilities in check even when she becomes upset about things. She also asks questions about procedures for dealing with the fae and has asked about some places in Demeleier and these things suggest they are gaining ground in, frankly, keeping her mentally grounded. Valeria will again ask residents if they would be willing to loan any books to the Watch for the purpose of continued progress with Sindragosa. She will also offer a projected release date somewhere between the third and tenth of October provided Sindragosa’s behavior continues to be fair.
• The Welcoming Committee. Ryuga Asahi (Light) will step forward and state that a formal welcoming committee was established sometime following July’s Watch meeting and that it exists as an entity separate from the Watch. As an organization, it is dedicated to providing newcomers with information critical to their survival and seeing that they acquire at the very least a basic understanding of the circumstances in which they’ve found themselves. It currently consists of himself and Valeria. As such, it is sorely in need of members willing to actively engage new arrivals and see that they are well-informed about the situation in which they have found themselves. If you are interested in joining, please comment here!
• General Fae Activity. Current topics include the timeline event, during which residents appear to have been taken from varying points in their life and seemingly deposited in Demeleier again from as early as September 13th to as late as September 19th. The village has seen increases in activity from bogeyman, the far dorocha, gwyllion, and grugachs and an increasing number of recaps whilst the lock sees each usage, kelpie, and the fideal. The baobhan sith has been seen walking between the graveyard and presumably the mountains and the graveyard is teaming with slaugh and headless ghosts. One of the black dogs has taken to guarding its gate and regularly threatens anyone who approaches; helpie have also been sighted down by the river. The forest has become unfriendly again with the trees twisting paths and will o’ the wisps being increasingly common. Satyrs, wood woes, and hobyah forming dangerous groups within it and the Ghillie Dhu appear to have become less frequent encounters.
Feel free to have your character bring up and discuss any of fae activity mentioned here or in this month’s game update, which can be found
HERE, or to get creative with your own machinations. For reference, the OOC bestiary can be found
HERE. If residents have others relevant things to bring up, they are free to do so. That includes previous activity.
• Population Changes. As has become the trend, recent months continue to see many more arrivals than departures. September is no exception. If there are any in particular of note, this would be the time and place to bring them up. Residents and members are also free to discuss any perceived changes, trends, or anything else they find notable with regards to changes in the population here.
• Missing Persons. Aigis, Allen, Lihua Lightbinder, Lockon Stratos, Melusine and her dragon Ember, Myhrta, Nanoha, Rock, Ryu, and Squalo currently make up the list of missing persons for whom people, particularly Watch members, should keep an eye out for. The old list may be found at the
previous Watch meeting. If your character has anyone to add or subtract or information regarding any missing persons, please comment here.
• Wards & Effectiveness. The links of iron that were forged for each resident, the rowan crowns, the iron and rowan fortifications added to the village buildings-those in attendance will be asked for feedback about how well or poorly these things are working. As Lloyd pointed out last meeting, it will be reiterated that rowan seems to lessen the effects of the fae’s glamour, but that the seeming absolute protection against the fae is iron. Characters are highly encouraged to offer ideas for how better to protect individuals of the community as a whole and to discuss them at this time.
• Community Expansion/Improvement. Valeria and Souji will again draw attention to the need to repair and prepare houses and other village structures for the coming winter and encourage characters whose places of abode are in need of as much to seek the help of the community. Characters are, as always, welcome to make suggestions about what they'd like to see on the front of community expansion and improvement and discuss to how to make their wants happen with the community. Expansion and improvement includes building, construction, reconstruction, and remodeling.
• Resource Management/Gathering. An overview of current stocks and supplies will be given. The success of hunting and gathering will be discussed, as well as what we're finding a lot of versus what's less common. Discussion about preparing and stocking up for the winter also goes here. Residents will be reminded of the agreement between the forest and the village and that they are to take wood only from trees marked with a leaf symbol. If someone present would like to volunteer to help with cooking duties at the inn, they will be given a chance to do so. Expect Dante to jump and take the floor regarding
the formally established hunting party that exists separate from the Watch, recruitment for said hunting party, and also to chip in about what’s going to happen with that now that winter’s rolling in, too.
• Watch Recruitment, Restructuring, etc. Please comment in the RE: Joining the Watch subsection if your character is interested in joining the Watch or has recently joined so that we can update the roster accordingly. Remember to state any partner or shift preferences also. If your character is a current member and has any partner or shift time preferences, please let us know here.
• Reports. Upon joining the Watch, all members received an explanation from Valeria and/or Souji about how to submit reports. Reports can be about that thing in the closet, encounters with various fae, changes in fae activity in this or that area, suspicious behavior from a person or persons, RECENT EVENTS, etc. Watch members are required to submit oral or written reports to Valeria and/or Souji at least once a fortnight, even if just to let them know they haven't really encountered anything of note. Residents may also make reports to the Watch if they so choose. Any especially noteworthy reports given can be left in the comments here for consideration.
• General Concerns, Questions, Suggestions. Any general concerns, questions, or suggestions had by anyone at the meeting will be addressed, so shoot them here and note that that's what it is / what would have been commented, asked, or suggested and by who!
• Open Floor. Open floor is exactly that. Anything goes here so long as it's Watch or community-oriented and/or related. That includes introductions, discussions regarding sparring, bartering, sharing of information, announcements, commission requests, and other things.
