So, this is actually a question that was brought up while I was talking to my friend tonight, and I think it's actually a pretty good question, so I wanted to run it by here.

Essentially, for characters that have their own communication equipment with them when they arrive, is it possible for them to sync that equipment up to the network? For example, Rock actually has voice-only communication equipment built into his armor, since he's always going underground and has his sister guiding him through ruins over radio transmissions. Would it actually work if say, a mechanic got a hold of his equipment and synced it up to the network?

It can probably also apply to walkie-talkies or even cellphones if you need more examples, but I just wanted to get the question out there.

Personal communication devices will not come into the game synced to the network. They can be later - in fact, there are characters who are ICly attempting to get by this problem, but they are finding it difficult.

It would be difficult to maintain that connection since there's no known source to locate, and also because the Guardian made the communicators to repel things like wire gremlins, but theanswer is yes, it can be done, and a more detailed answer will be added to FAQ 3. Thank you for your question!

So, um, clarification.

If I were to apply for a character who commonly carries a sword (or other steel weapon), would that be allowed as it is an iron alloy and isn't pure enough to harm a fae?

Also, I was considering applying for Zelgadis Greywords from Slayers. Zelgadis has metallic wire for hair. While it doesn't clarify the exact nature of his hair: would it pose a problem to have a character with that much possibly-iron as part of his body, and would it have the side benefit of acting to further protect him from fairy glamors? Or should I just assume that it's sufficiently muddled with magic and impurities that it would be as useless as normal human hair.

(Canon doesn't specify anything, besides that it's wire and sturdy enough to be used as an improvised thrown weapon -- nothing in the Slayers universe is unduly hurt by iron, cold or otherwise. )

We are extremely sorry about how long it took us to get to this question! Livejournal was not sending any notifs to the mod inbox for whatever reason.

To answer your question, we have decided that steel is allowed in Demeleier as the alloy is sufficiently changed from iron to not seriously hamper the fae. It would be okay to take in; it's only pure iron that is not allowed.

As for the character's hair... basically, we'd be happy to meet in the middle with it having effect on creatures more sensitive to iron (think pillywiggins, ballybogs, bodachs, spriggans, bugbears, redcaps, baobhan sith and such) but be as useless for repelling fae as normal hair. We have that with some of the andriods/robotic characters already in Demeleier, and we should add this to the FAQ.

Thank you for your questions! Again, we are sorry about how long it took us to get to the response, and hope that they have answered your questions.

A bunch of questions here!

1)I don't know if I missed it, but what is the currency? Is there a set currency?
2)Do the characters get jobs here?
3)Where else can characters live, it was mentioned in the housing post that they don't have to live in the crofts, but is there any other sort of housing other than those?
4)Do the characters keep all of their powers? Are they cut or limited in anyway?
5)What about modern conveniences? Is there any sort of plumbing? I know the communicators are ore "modern", but is there anything else that's technologically advanced?
6)What kind of "time period" is this? Is it kind of like the Middle Ages with tunics, tights, and corsets? Or is it a town so far secluded from modern conveniences that it seems like they're trapped in the middle ages?

^_^;; Sorry for all of the questions! I just don't want to assume anything and I be waaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

We responded to this in IM, but I will put the answer up here while we work on updating the FAQ in case others were wondering:

1) There is no currency in Demeleier - none of the residents have ICly set one up, and the NPCs have no use for money. The merchants who show up will give items for jobs or quests fulfilled, and some charactets might ask for trades (like Bayonetta and her herbs for alchohol). But no, there is no set currency.

2) Characters can sign up to help in the watch ( see here for more information), work in the infirmary (talk to Takano ICly - she's ungodliest), go hunting (talk to Dante ICly - he's albinoidiot), help out at the Inn (talk to Souji ICly - he's toplaythefool), help out with mining (talk to Aureln or Jalyt ICly - they're bloodforlight and penguin_phobic respectively) - and maybe a few other jobs, like farming or restructuring or researching, etc. They will not be paid to do this and they are under no obligation to do any of these jobs ( ... )

Hello! I think your game looks fantastic and I'd love to bring a character in, but she has a two year history in another game on LJ. I'm in the middle of putting together a history for her now, but am wondering how much detail you want in this regard? Is it enough to dotpoint it, or should I go into great depth?

Thanks in advance. |D;

Dotpointing is fine provided the information is still there - two years is obviously a substantial amount of time, so please give us an understanding of what's going on. If there were periods where things were quiet or nondescript, just note that in the history. Hope this helps!
