the Story:
Today had been full of unwanted excitement. Having been burned after venturing too far out into the black void beyond the asylum walls, sorted out the remaining patients, and prying the door to Room 1D, Death had already hoped for the day’s end. However, there was still one last thing she had to do.
Rita. Death had told the girl that she would come for her. It was bad enough that she had to be in Solitary, completely cut off from the rest of the patients, but the basement, when she found it, was also a wreck. It was amazing to think that someone was down there, underneath it all.
Thanks to Travis Touchdown, though, Death wasn’t empty-handed completely. Armed with a shovel (among a few other things), already Death had begun excavating into the rubble. Every so often the clumsy tool became too much, to which Death would simply drop to her knees and start digging her way into the debris with her hands until her skin was rubbed raw.
Her condition was already not so hot to begin with. Since wearing a sleeveless top, one could see her burned arms with skin peeling clean off easily. Her usually unkempt hair was a wild mass covered in dust. Her clothes were a mess, too; ripped and tattered and dirty from dealing with the debris.
At last, she began to see a sign of a flickering light all down the basement corridor. What more, the noises: The terrifying, eerie crashing coming from the Solitary ward, coming from the body of something huge and powerful. Death was in no way eager to meet it anytime soon, but that was inevitable.
Gripping the handle of the shovel, Death moved aside more debris, so to make a hole large enough for a person to fit through. Whatever was there on the other side, it would only be a matter of time before it successfully reached Rita, despite the Solitary walls being pretty thick as they were. Death had to get there fast before the girl either suffocated to death, or whatever else was down there with her got to her first.
Just a little while longer... please hang on... Please.
