Love it. My favorite part about these is that each year, I discover at least a half-dozen acts I'd never heard of, who I then go out and buy within a month.

I will be the first to admit of the comparatively low caliber of my non-hip-hop musical taste, but I feel GaGa's The Fame is a spectacular album all around... so long as you turn off your brain and just embrace the ridiculously pure pop feel.

THANK YOU!!!!! As always, I owe you a drink next time I see you.

That Phoenix band is some catchy stuff, though it immediately made me think of Vampire Weekend. Not that that's a bad thing.

It's like if you took VW out of Manhattan and sent them to France; took away their copy of Paul Simon's Graceland and gave them a Daft Punk album to imitate instead; and had their lead singer start dating Sofia Coppola, you'd have Phoenix. Fine by me!
