Seems like it's been ages since I've made icons. I felt like it was time to try my hand at them again. What I'm going to ask of you guys though, is to give me contructive feedback. I notice my icons are too bland and matte and I just can't figure out how to give them that "glow" without screwing up with the colors. Not that my coloring is anything ( Read more... )

I'm definitely not an icon expert or anything, but I really like your icons. I especially love #7. When I get a really dull looking icon I always screen it 100% to make it really bright, then I copy it, desaturate it & set it to soft light 100% to give it a glossy depth.

Awww, you're such a sweetheart! But yeah, I do the screen and desaturate, but I've never tried adding another layer to soft light. I'll try it out :)

How do you want your icons to look like?
I love 17-23, the other ones are too yellowish for me.

Realistic, mostly! And vibrant! I'm a sucker for color.
Yellowish huh? I have this complex of not wanting them to look red, so I intensify the yellowness! lol
I need to work on balancing them now. Thanks sweets! :)

Then I would just play with the saturation and lower the yellow tones a little.
Icons that are TOO red don't loook good, but sometimes it's cool when the lips have an intensive red tone.

That's good advice! I've been playing with the selective tool. I'm having a lot of fun with it :D
