Seems like it's been ages since I've made icons. I felt like it was time to try my hand at them again. What I'm going to ask of you guys though, is to give me contructive feedback. I notice my icons are too bland and matte and I just can't figure out how to give them that "glow" without screwing up with the colors. Not that my coloring is anything ( Read more... )

I always would suggest Curves! I love that tool. And Color Burn...Duh!! :D

I use them, but I don't think I use them to their full advantage. I guess I need to experiment a little more.

Experiment is always great. Work with different gradients and see what it looks like. ;)

also Carla I really need to make sure I get people into this show and have them watch when it starts, I know I've made people watch Life On Mars, so maybe it'll work.

Also I miss icon making OMG I'VE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING LAYERS, DESATURATION, OMMGG THE BLUE LAYER ROCKED!

I've checked out a few tutorials but I've noticed a lot of them are repetitive. I've been experimenting a little. I might make a post about it later.

yeah I agree, it seems a lot of people just copy other ones, or just cover the basics which everyone has, YEAH EVERYONE KNOWS HOW TO DO THE BROWN COLOURED ICONS NOW! sheesh, but sometimes you get the odd good one ;P

it got deleted along with my other programs and windows xp when my computer crashed/went stupid :( I'll download it again one day :/ I swear I forgotten how do everything, LAYEEERS on man layers rocked.

You make pretty icons! Not all of them are bland or matte as you call it. What you did in 15, 19, 20 and 22 (especially 22) are really pretty! I like the colouring. It's bright, it's different and they stand out. Actually, I'm really in love with 22 now. *stares some more* If you are having problems with getting colouring right, then I suggest looking at tutorials. I have a few saved on my memories that I looked at for when I was learning to use PS. They really helped! And remember to experiment, that always gets you going. ;)
