67th Hunt [Action] (Early Morning of the 17th)

Jan 16, 2011 22:26

It's cold, out here on the north eastern side of House 55's porch. He's been sitting here for a while, ever since that god awful crawl under his skin that starts now when the sun is getting ready to rise started it's daily sensation. It was like having someone repeatedly walk over your grave...or tiny ants slowly, carefully, tracking just under ( Read more... )

[He doesn't want to listen to this now. Leo keeps waking him up at all hours to ask questions that don't even make sense, and his energy and emotional resources are stretched too thin to handle Raph with any kind of sympathy.

He stands abruptly, taking himself and his blanket into the back room. If you care to follow, he'll be at his desk, tinkering with odd pieces, trying to make something fit together.]

[Raph lets him leave, broods on the couch for a while longer before heading to the kitchen for a few bowls of cereal, hoping a full stomach will make him feel less empty. But it won't. This isn't something that's fixed so easily.]

[It wouldn't be all that strange to find Leo awake. If he even sleeps it's hard to tell when and how long. His mind was just refusing to calm down, no matter how much meditating he did. When Don had left their room, Leo had crept out after him not too long after. He kept hidden though in the hall, as he just listened with a frown.

He couldn't help but feel the seperation between his brothers and him. They'd been here for months, a year in Raph's case, while he was only newly arrived, despite having been here before. The same could be said for April. That's why he just spied, because he was trying to catch up, to find out.

He watched Don head out of the room, before he gave a sigh and walked out of the hall way, doing his best to look normal.]

[Raph's in the kitchen, mechanically eating a bowl of cereal, a dull look of exhaustion on his face.

Right now, Leo's about the last person on Earth he wants to see. But he won't let it on. Just act casual.]

[Must be the morning for acting. He'll walk into the kitchen, spotting Raph.]

Morning.

[He tried to put in some cheeriness, but it just wasn't happening easily.]

Hey.

[Cheeriness? Yeah, he doesn't even try. Instead, he'll distract himself with pouring his second bowl of Cocoa Puffs.]

[Leo eyed his brother for a moment, before going to make himself some tea.]

[And Raph will stay silent, suddenly engrossed in his cereal.]

[While waiting Leo leans against the counter, arms crossed, trying to think about what he heard.]

If you're gonna say something, just say it.

['Cause there's no question in Raph's mind that Leo heard everything. Him appearing the minute Don leaves is way too convenient.]

[So much for trying to act natural. He gives a sigh.]

First off, the house was not a bad idea. Second...I wish you and Don would talk to me more. I know I'm not the Leo you knew here. But I'm still your brother.

[He bristles at that, but only slightly.]

Yeah? So what do you want me to say? Far as I'm concerned we got nothin' to talk about.

[He's testing you, Leo. Just like he always is. You can see it in his posture, the way he leans back in his chair, gazing back steadily, expectantly. Your move, Fearless.]

Far as I can see, there's plenty to talk about. Like why do you think I would want to lecture you?

[He's silent for a few moments, mouth pressed into a hard line. It takes every once of his stubbornness not to look away.

Eventually, he snorts in disgust. Whether it's toward Leo or himself is unclear.]

So you're tellin' me you don't see anything around here that ticks you off.

[You're really going to push this aren't you? He'll sigh, and cross his arms as he eyes his brother.]

No, there's a lot of things annoying me at the moment. [Like what the heck is with the beer bottles, and if Derek was perceived to be so dangerous, that the man felt it necessary to leave, why wasn't he told?

Plus this issue, that Raph seems to have with him and yet Don doesn't seem to have the issue.

A frown of concern flickered over his features]

Tell me why you've been drinking...and where you picked it up. [Leo can put two and two together, plus he could probably smell the alcohol on his brother to a point.]

[Raph is strangely not offended or bothered in any way by the questioning. In fact, it makes him feel comforted, more than anything. It's good to see Leo acting like his old self, and not so lost and disoriented. He actually looks like he has a plan, and that's the Leo he knows, the Leo he can trust and confide in, no matter their differences.]

I'm not drunk. I had two beers like an hour ago.

[That was probably the most civil tone Raph's used with Leo since he got here. Your brother's done a lot of growing up while you were gone, Leo. That much should be obvious.]

And things change. There's a whole lot about me you don't know.

[So he didn't exactly answer the question, but at least it's something.]
