We turned...

I am hungry, but I am trying not to eat anything that is horrible for me. Since moving to Natchitoches in January of 2005, I have gone from weighing 125 lbs. to about 175. I'm trying to give up my reliance on fast food and soft drinks. I am sure that is where most of the weight has come from. After a week of watching what I eat, I almost cried ( Read more... )

well, I think University of British Columbia is the only one that offers a Master's in creative writing, but I am not completely ruling out a literature degree. I don't know anything, really, about the schools there. Do you have any suggestions?

Most people I know either go to UBC or UVIC [University of Victoria] a lot of people move from Vancouver to Victoria just so they cna go to UVIC. I'm not sure if they offer a Master's in creative writing though! Here's the website for you to do some snooping around if you want:

http://www.uvic.ca/

It would be awesome if you went to either, Victoria is where i live so that'd be more awesome but Vancouver is only a ferry ride away. BC is soooo beautiful, i don't think you would regret it. Lots of interesting and open-minded people in Vancouver/Victoria for sure.

Thanks for the link. I will definitely check it out.

Edit: There is only a Master's in lit, which, as I said, I may need to do anyway. And there application fee for non-Canadians is pretty steep. I think I will probably send the department head an e-mail and get some more information from him. I don't want to just throw away $125 if my chances of getting in are slim.

Plus, Ashley really wants to go back to Austin, so UT will be my first choice. I just want a complete change of scenery, and BC would definitely satisfy that!

What do you want to study in grad school?
I whole-heartedly agree with crying over a chicken strip basket. I've been eating fresher foods for the past few months and whenever I eat something high in grease, saturated fats or high processed sugars, I don't feel well.

You and Ashley will make it through, I know it, despite all the annoying classes that you're overqualified to enroll in.
And a Smoothie King is certainly something to look forward to.

I have been planning to get an MA in creative writing, but I am also considering a degree in modern American lit.
