As anyone who has dined with me in the past six months has noticed I've been eating a bit differently of late.

Essentially I'm high-protein, low-carb, low-fat, low-calorie though surprisingly not all that low-fun. It  does seem to to make dining with vegans a it of a trick if you like variety since the overlap is quite small: sauted veggies ( Read more... )

This is why I hate the grocery store. I always suspected that guy of lording it over me but I tried to ignore him. Now, you have proven without a doubt that he is, indeed, lording it over me. I will tell him to bite me next time I'm at Rainbow.

Oh I'm totally that person too.
Then again, I'm also that person with the meticulously organized folder of coupons, and my grocery list makes me look downright OCD:

My store recently started a thing where you can get a portable hand-scanner and scan all your items and put them straight into bags in your cart. I adore this system. And w/ my reusable bags, I usually fill 3 bags with veggie/produce, 1 with meat, and 4 with everything else - dairy, dry goods, canned goods, frozen, etc.

I wonder if it would be worth making at home.

This says it's the easiest sort of cheese to make. It looks a little easier than beer. And there are sometimes very good deals on gallons of milk.

I wonder how well that would scale. I seem to go through about five containers of cottage cheese every week (the big ones). I wonder what the yield of a gallon of milk is in terms of cottage cheese.

Time for some research, evidently.
