So there I am prepared to go into work on this Sunday with Elaine's mum lined up to babysit and then I find that the release is actually on the 19th. So given that Elaine's mum is still willing to sit the kids this leaves me free to join Elaine and Andy on their giant bike ride (well, giant by my standards). Hey, its the weekend for it. Liza is away so I am going to try riding round the lake, which is about twice as far as I've ever gone (75km).

My only issue is its due to be down to about 4C so I might have to find some of these oh-so-sexy sock things that go over the shoe and your ankle once its in the cleats.

BTW, does this mean that the 5 gear iron framed racer has been upgraded?

Nah, the racer will simply have some cleated pedals attached to it and be given an overhaul with Andy's help on Saturday (didn't know that was coming did you Gates?)

I can't really be that rude about that bike given the speed at which it carried me round the Burnham tri in June and given my lack of modern bike gear or in fact bike training. I suspect I will upgrade it at some point, possibly to Elaine's current effort if she gets a new one as that has things like modern gears, no rust on the spokes and her legs are the same length as mine
