A blog here discusses our recent rather high inflation figures. Like I said previously, this is far from over. The Greeks have now been given formal notice that they can no longer borrow money on sensible and affordable terms. The IMF/EU bailout may hold them for a while but it still doesn't address the problem of why, for example, the Germans have to retire later than the Greeks whilst helping to bail them out ( Read more... )

I, like most on here, enjoy a good moan, so to balance that out can I please ask for a round of applause for Jamie Oliver who is prepared to put his own money where his mouth is (and the governments should have been) in order to try and get good food into our country's kids.

No-one likes a rich banker, so it is no surprise to find the politicians having a pop at Barclays' star trader Bob Diamond. For what its worth, some valid points are being made. The man has not created employment for thousands, he has simply traded the market and skimmed money off for his employers, but that is not the point here.

Following on from my last BT post, I find today that my bank account is down about £60 to BT. Turns out that they 'forgot' to remove the charge from my account and when I went to check my bill online (the only place I can check it) to see what the £60 charge was for, there was a technical fault.

Which they haven't fixed for about 4 days.

In the last two months, the Volvo opposite has broken my back gate and severely dented my roll-over door on my garage. I didn't see who was driving either time (the gate I simply saw the Volvo reverse into it, the garage I could spot the giveaway paint mark on the Volvo's bumper). So it begins in earnest. The Greek population, annoyed by their rich persistently dodging tax have gone out on collective strike in response to their government's attempts to only spend the money it actually has and to pay back that which it has borrowed.
