Why does he always find himself in the middle of one?
The answer is moot. He is currently skulking in a corner, as is his preference, hoping Phedre shows up and unwilling to try to get through the crowd for the kitchen to get the food he was actually looking for. Bugger this. It's just been a bad day.
Phedre will always show up when you want her too, Sandor. It's called laws of attraction. And here she is, sliding nearby and slipping her hand in your larger one.
"We live in a magical house," she replies, and she leans into him a little, just to offer some of her heat. "I would suspect it's best not to wonder too long."
At least he likes to pretend. Anyway, Fingon doesn't really mind being in the midst of things, and is sipping (of course) a glass of water, listening to the music and letting himself relax. Just a little.
Fingon looks up and almost smiles, pleased, certainly, to see him, and inclines his head. "Niko. Good day." He's somewhere more...at peace with some things. It is probably because he's been spending goodly amounts of time with Galie, if we had to ask.
Mildmay is surprised to find the party laid out in the main room, and suspiciously looks around for a few moments. But there doesn't seem to be anything else strange going on, so he walks over (walks, without limping, it's still astonishing to him) and gets himself a beer and a spot to watch the goings-on from the sidelines.
He'll find himself spotted by a friend with benefits, then, who will smile at him from her seat, then stand and walk over with easy and comfortable assurance.
"Mildmay, it has been a while, has it not?" And she'll give him the kiss of greeting, unless he stops her.
"...Sorry." He didn't mean for it to be long. But he of course allows the kiss, though it still baffles him that she seems to like kissing him so much. "Hi."
Zillah has ventured out from the library (finally!), and when she sees the er, festivities, she grins. She could really use a break from all her reading, and so she grabs a drink and stands in a corner, people-watching. She's not shy, though, and if someone should wish to speak with her, that'd be fine by her.
Simeon's wandering, he does get restless sometimes only being able to do as much at once as his human body will let him. It gets frustrating sometimes. He wasn't expecting to see the party, but now that he has he decides to stick around and people-watch at least.
There's someone he knows -- but she's fabulous tonight, not quite the androgynous Belize he's used to, but rather a glittery and grinning queen in all her glory.
Belize cuts through the crowd and wanders with two drinks - both have paper umbrellas. "Well hello darling."

"Well, love?"

But he's glad to see her, and his hand tightens on hers, because - well, she's Phedre. He needs no more reason than that.

But he'll be polite to anyone who speaks to him, of course.

"Your Majesty." The title is almost a nickname, by now.

"Well well, look who's here. Our n. 1 little activist."
It's friendly, though, just a touch teasing.
