I really want to see Die Welle~! A few years back I saw an American adaptation of that book from the 80s i believe with Bruce Davison.

That was the TV movie made about the same story. It's a true story that took place not too far from where I live. Die Welle is a movie that I think could even play in US theaters, but no one seems to want to risk trying to get Americans to watch a foreign film. Beh! >:P

You should try and see some of the movies Fatih Akin made as a director.

I loved "Im Juli", "Gegen die Wand" and especially his newest movie "Soul kitchen".

I've seen Im Juli. It's a favorite among the more knowledgable deutschophiles around here. The other movies I don't know about yet though. Thaks for the recommendations!

"Knocking on Heaven's Door" is one of my all time favs.

I also like everythging related to Til Schweiger, like "Barfuß" or Fatih Akin, like "Im Juli".

I experienced those outside of Germany :)

I've seen I'm Juli, but I've only heard of the others. Thanks for the recommendations!

I've only seen a few movies in Germany. The last movie I saw in Berlin was The Dark Knight, dubbed into German. :P (And they BADLY translated the best scene in the film. D'oh!)

I like Sonnenallee, I thought it was a bit underwhelming the first time I saw it but it's really grown on me. :D

Also I'd like to mention Männerpension (D. Buck) and Der Eisbär (also starring Til Schweiger); Der Campus (starring Heiner Lauterbach); Das Experiment (starring Moritz Bleibtreu); Die Apothekerin (starring Jürgen Vogel); Bandits (starring Katja Riemann); Dresden (also starring Heiner Lauterbach); and Rossini oder die mörderische Frage wer mit wem schlief....

Ehm I can't think of anymore, except for Der Krieger und die Kaiserin (Tom Tykwer film). I really liked that one.

Thanks for the recommendations! I own a copy of Der Krieger und Die Kasierin, which I actually like better than the ever ubiquitous Run Lola Run. I've also seen Bandits and Das Experiment but not the rest.

How many movies has Moritz Bleibtreu made anyways?? :/
