Speaking of food...

What's on your Christmas menu this year? (And where are you from?)

Pennsylvania, US. We're having:

roasted goose
roasted apples stuffed with raisins and rum
red cabbage (with cranberry, orange, and apple)
potato dumplings
chestnuts glazed with honey and cream
kaesespaetzle(sp)

and cookies for dessert!

Frohe Wein

Interesting, this is pretty much my family's traditional menu in (northern) Germany.

We make goose breasts (or a whole roast goose for a big dinner with extended family), potato dumplings, red cabbage with apples and cinnamon, chestnuts and baked apples. Dessert usually is walnut icecream with warm vanilla sauce.

Are you from Germany originally?

I am not. However, my husband lived for several years in Germany (Erlangen, but traveled to northeastern Germany a lot) and brought many customs back with him. We celebrate a lot holidays with our German friends, and have fun blending the two country's customs.

I live in Michigan, but I'll be in Hamburg by January 4th! I had lots of Filipino food with one family and potatoes, etc with my other family. There was ham, but I don't eat ham. I just don't have a lust for eating it anymore... I'm not sure why.
