OKAY, SO. Someone posted this link at ontd_startrek, and it's this list some moron wrote of the 100 most defining films of the decade. Basically, a bunch of films that defined the decade, infleunced careers/filmmaking/the industry, etc. I MEAN, CLEARLY YOU CAN TELL I'M ANNOYED. But check this, this is the top 10:

10) Slumdog Millionaire ( Read more... )

Pixar is hugely influential and I agree that it should be on this list, but I also agree with you in that while The Incredibles is personally MY favorite Pixar, I'd say Finding Nemo's success with both kids and adults is more definitive of the decade and Pixar's "career," as it were, than The Incredibles.

Devi, The Matrix and the Blair Witch Project are made in 1999 and thus wouldn't be on the list of the most influential movies of this decade.

Of course, it's very obvious to me that they are basing the list solely on what wins Oscars.

The subtitle on this article says "the past ten years," and being that it's 2009, films from 1999 could be included. If it had said "definitive films from the 2000s," that would make more sense. And as my history of TV professor always said, decades as we know them didn't always start at the 0 and end at the 9!

This guy is clearly an idiot.
This seems to be just a list of his favorite films. I mean come on...THREE of Kira Knightly's movies are on there simply because she was in them! I mean...his reasoning for them is because they launched her EPIC career. Uhhh...WHAT? Sure she's pretty and she's made herself a decent career but come on!!!
A few others that had me going WTF were...
The Wrestler- Just because it let Micky Rourke make a come back?
Bend it like Beckham
School of rock- OMG one of the most pointless movies ever.
The devil wears prada- Cute but influential? Come on!
Knocked up

LOLOLOL I DIDN'T EVEN SEE THE KIERA KNIGHTLY STUFF LMAO. Seriously, he's just fapping because Kiera is British and has a successful career here. I wouldn't ever say her career is epic. And besides, she hasn't really been in stuff recently and I would say her popularity stemmed mostly from PotC. I dislike her, as an aside. >.>

This list is so moronic though, right? THE WRESTLER IS DEFINITIVE OF HOW SO MANY PEOPLE MAKE COMEBACKS! ZOMG!!1

Hmm, but I agree with Knocked Up being on the list. It did create the platform for all the other Apatow flicks and their insane popularity.

It's true. I guess the guy was only thinking of Chris Pine and how he was basically unknown before Trek, but people knew Zach Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Simon Pegg already. And, granted, they weren't the biggest names, but this isn't the reason why the movie is so great or successful or definitive! FACEPALM TO THIS WHOLE LIST AND HIS BLURBS.

Haha! I do think it's way more influential than the list gives it credit for!
