Tonight is the first night that it's really sunk in that in 4 weeks, I'll be half way around the world. On top of that, one of the most dangerous places in the world to boot. To be honest, I've always had an over active imagination, and I always pictured myself going to fight a war, become a hero and all that jazz. Now that I'm going overseas to a ( Read more... )

Dude, I know i was opposed to this all before but now you have my full support. You're not going to harm, you're going to protect us. You didnt choose to start this war but you're choosing to keep it out of our lives. You're a nobel man, a great friend and a fantastic drinking buddy John Roberts. We'll all be here praying to whatever god we follow for your safety every day that you're gone. Remembering the wacky fun loving friend we all hold so close and thinking about seeing you back home in a short while.

There'd better be one hell of a send off for you before you go.

Reading this gives me a better understanding of you and your motivations. Thank you for posting it. I have always believed that the world would be better without war, that it only served to fuck things up more and turned good people into killers. But no one fights for something they don't believe in, on either side; no one goes in thinking they are doing anything wrong. I don't believe in mortal combat, but I believe in you. I believe when the time comes you will do the right thing, even if you don't know what the right thing is just yet.

I support you. Do what you have to do and just come home.

Everyone on this side of the Hamilton/Burlington border is rooting for you. Everyone I know in Burlington who knows you believes in you and we all know your coming home safely. And about the Send off... There better be one!
