Oh, Sci-Fi... what have you become?

A blog-comment I found that sums it up:
They kill Dresden files, kill Farscape... Slowly milk BSG out of any type of potential, and show things like John Edwards, The Other Psychic Guy That's Not John Edwards™, Who Wants to be a Cosplay Retard, and fucking WRESTLING.

What the HELL, Scifi?Wrestling? BAD Giant monster horror movies ( Read more... )

Hey, they've got a Flash Gordon show now.

And BSG will be back in November, according to sources. They've gotta show them some more love, since BSG is their BIG money making hit (especially now that Stargate is done).

My vote: make a second season of Firefly :)

Joss Whedon has said that he isn't interested in continuing on with Firefly, so I'm not holding my breath for that. Then again, I think Lucas once said something about only doing 3 Indiana Jones movies, and here we are today with weekly updates on the progress of the 4th. So you never know, I guess.

But yeah, Sci-Fi's been doing too much paranormal/supernatural stuff for my tastes. It's supposed to be Science Fiction, not Wacko Whatever-the-hell-we-feel-like Fiction. We need more Shows like Flash Gordon and Stargate and Farscape on there, and the paranormal stuff (i.e. Dresden, Dead Like Me) needs to be more... I guess "scientific" is the term, since those seem to be less ghost-story fiction and more Scooby-Doo.

Hell, they need to put Scooby-Doo on Sci-Fi. Their ratings would go through the fucking roof, I guarantee you.

See, I don't believe Joss Whedon is totally disinterested in Firefly, because they're going to do the MMORPG, and nothing creates interest like money.

I'll hold my breath until I turn blue, frankly. He left too many unanswered questions in Serenity for their to be no interest in a second movie or season.

I haven't watched Flash Gordon yet, but I have hope. There's renewed interest on network TV for scifi/paranormal shows, so I'm hoping that'll stimulate the genre.

Joss Whedon got a taste of big screen for Firefly, and only wants to do movies. MAYBE he could be talked into some TV or Direct to DVD movies, but it's those, and not another series that he's interested in.

The MMO... it's money, which MAY generate interest, or may only appeal to the Browncoats and thus not generate any more interest than is currently there.

Flash Gordon is okay. It doesn't compel me to watch it week-to-week, but it's able to keep my interest when I do watch.

Doctor Who... I miss Rose. I didn't like Sci-Fi's "hiding" of the change episode.

BSG... 10 eps in Nov, and 10 eps later (I've heard that's how it's going) does not make me happy to hear after a LONG absence of new eps.
