The following is a 500 word essay for admission, I'd appreciate any feedback on this before I submit it. It's a response to Einstein's essay "The World As I See It"...well part of it anyway. Should be an amusing read, if a bit ranty.

the general rule about formal writing is not to use them for omissions. also you may want to change sentences around so not as many of them start with "I". if you wish i can edit. you also use commas when they aren't necessary. hahaha. i never read for material. structure is always what i see first. sorry.

Grammar nazi! Thanks, I'll mess around with it. I don't think it was supposed to be overly formal however. I use commas a lot to denote pauses, usually pauses in thoughts. Should probably work on that.

Okay, I've made and posted revisions. You're going to have to suck it up on the contractions though, I think getting rid of them makes things sound disingenuous. In fact one method of detecting lies is to look for people not using contractions where they could have.
