Christian is pacing his room. That just can't be true. She can't be here. She's dead. He thought he had finally coped with her being dead, than he's truned into her. And after that, ehen he thinks he has finally really coped with it, she suddenly turns up here. He stops pacing for a moment. And she thinks he's the Duke... Everything will start right from the beginning. He can't take this again. And then she'll eventually die again. No. He can't handle this. Not again.
"And what about love?", his inner writer inquires.
"It hurts too much", Christian answers.
"Suffering is the mother of writing. You need it", the writer goes on.
"That's not true. I haven't written in months. Though I've suffered."
"Well, so you probably haven't suffered enough." And the inner voice is gone.
But someone's knocking on the door. Christian is quick to figure out it must be Satine- in all the time he's spent at the bar, noone ever knocked on his door. It must be her. And of course, he has to open the door. He does so and stares at her.

But the look on his face dissolves even her mask. "I thought I'd come check in on you. I've been worrying."
