Tech Question

Despite the fact that my tuition is paid in full by my company, I did what pretty much everyone else who works here does and took out a student loan anyway - because I want a shiny new computer. (This is much more mature and responsible than what I did with my last student loan check in late 1996, which involved a tattoo based on a design from an ( Read more... )

I connect to the internet with a Speak and Spell plugged into a potato, so I won't be much good in this discussion.

I love my macs - we have an iMac and an iBook and they're both getting on (2-3 years now) but they're a-o-k!! I do want to get a new one before we move to the country but there's no real reason for that, really. I would completley advocate macs!! They're so stable, and easy to use. And as you mentioned, no virus, no crashing. And we also have a PC and we have office for mac and can just pop in the usb flash drive thing and transfer stuff over no trouble whatsoever. Hurray!!!

(We only bought the PC because I work in a store that only sells PC and they were having awesome deals for staff... i wish we didn't buy it :|)

Hmmmm I don't know maybe I've just had very bad experiences with macs, but the ones that I had to work on at college were horrible. They crashed every 10 minutes, after it took me 30 minutes to actually get it to start running a program. It was an absolute pain in the ass. But I can also say I've had problems with PC's along the lines the above posters talked about. And I've been getting viruses like crazy lately in the past year or so. And it is slow as all hell. hahahahah yeah let me know how the mac works out, maybe I'll have to get one.

I know Mac users are hyper-loyal & plan on being buried with them, but I prefer my PC. My last boyfriend had a shiny new Mac and I hated using it. I couldn't figure out how to use the programs, and there was no way I could get my documents transferred onto my PC without his help. I'm also stubborn so I didn't feel like learning ( ... )

It all depends on what your doing with the machine, if it is used for internet and office work, some graphics, then go mac by all means. Just remember, mac has a hard time with applications using direct x, a video driver made by windows used by most game companies. If your not gaming, buy the mac.
