Driving into work today I was behind a car with an owner that clearly wanted to be heard.  His bumper stickers were as follows:

“Under Republicans Man exploits Man…with Democrats it’s exactly the opposite.”

“If you’re not for gay marriage…then don’t have one.”
“Don’t pray in my school, and I won’t think in your church.”  

I felt a sense of the flow, as opposed to the  force.  There is a time to use the force to move through, ahead or against the water and at other moments it is my lesson to learn to flow with the water (I have been an apprentice of the force but know very little about how to relinquish myself to the flow).  It is learning to balance and tip between ( Read more... )

Today is the birthday of novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand, born Alissa Rosenbaum in St. Petersburg, Russia (1905). In 1917, she witnessed the first shots of the Russian Revolution from her balcony. She came to this country where she became a writer. This process thrilled me to no end.  This morning I was rummaging through boxes from their old lab in Texas filled with all sorts of lab goodies to be had like booty to a pirate.
