A little bird recently started to build a nest outside the window in of the laundry room/hallway going to my room. Unfortunately, he chose to try to build it in that little opening/vent that is on the outside of houses for dryers. Yay for discounts off vet bills for a bird that isn't even mine... haha. Bird hide illnesses/issues very well, so really the only way to be sure they're 100% is through bloodwork, which means avian vet specialist + visit fees + bloodwork that needs to be sent out to labs = $230 for a "Well Bird Exam", which is the equivalent to an annual check up ( Read more... )

So on March 24, 2 of the girls I work with found and caught a parrot. Being the only bird-knowledgable person at work, I was the one who took him home. It is now 4/7, and he is still with me. I fell today while riding, and thought it was worth mentioning :) I always find falling off a horse to be an extremely amusing event. No one else does though... I guess the fact that I've never been seriously injured while riding over the past 12 years has something to do with it.
