My hard drive crapped on me after a power failure this morning.... Is it possible to burn data DVD's using Knoppix?

I'm pretty sure that it is, but you'd need to have two drives. One for knoppix, one for the DVD burner (because you can't take knoppix out)

Or just get an external hard drive and make it easy on yourself

At this point, I've put the said hard drive into my backup computer, along with the DVD writer.. I can read the files when it's set as a secondary drive, but fails to boot. I tried reinstalling Windows, but it said the partition was empty, and didn't want to risk it formatting. I'm trying to find the disk with the Burning software, so I can back everything up, and then just fdisk it.
It May have been a virus, because there's a new autorun.inf in Every folder, with open=uninstall.exe in each of them.
But if I do need to do it from Knoppix, I do have the 2nd CDrom for it.
