In Mother Russia, remote controls you!
Gears of War is absolutely breathtaking. It solely justified the $400 purchase of the Xbox 360. The $600 Playstation 3, on the other hand I cannot even begin to rationalize. buy me one.

Resistance: Fall of Man (supporting up to 40 players in online multi) is getting great reviews, almost matching GoW. IGN said PS3 had its first killer app right at launch, in Resistance.
Let's look at what PS3 has going for it: 20gb/60gb hd, all games make use of hd for faster load times than on 360, free online gameplay, more games in 1080i/1080p, most games already making use of motion sensitive SixAxis controller, overall more developer support, the edge in hardware, backwards compatibility with thousands of games, etc.

2. I was oogling-and-googling over Resistance earlier this week. It does look splendid...
3. the MUCH larger HDD is an enticing prospect to be sure but I'm not sure that, nor the HD compatability factor, considering most TV's (mine included) don't even support 1080p yet, justfify the price tag. The fact is, 720p beats 1080i hands down and MicroSoft has plans to release a new, larger HDD although I'm not certain of the storage capacity.
4. Controllers; I'm amazed at the technology Sony pumped in to theirs, but I simply cannot part with my rumble function. I remember seeing an article in which Sony's European Branch CEO David Reeves or Reeve, or maybe that's not his name at all, said they could have included a rumble feature but it would have cost too much money, or something to that effect. Too expensive? As opposed to what ( ... )

If there is a reason to buy the Playstation 3 this coming weekend, my Rambo-loving B.F.G.-toting friend, then I have a couple of crazy names for you to mull around in that pillow-padded mind of yours; FFXIII, God of War II, Devil May Cry 4, Shadow of the Colossus 2, and Metal Gear Solid 4.
I'm salvating.
