Programming is a very rewarding process.  It's like many other things in that you are given a problem with nearly infinite solutions.  Your task is to decide which solution would be best suited for your particular situation.  When all is said and done, when I hit the debug button (a preview/play button if you will) and everything runs flawlessly, a ( Read more... )

Programming - it's a crazy concept. I've been a computer nerd since the age of 6. No jokes, I was reading a C++ book in study hall in 8th grade. I wish I would have stuck to everything, but then high school came around. I blame it on sports and social events, but I lost my interest in computers (or hid my nerdage). But now I'm back, and very much in love with it. The thing about computing is, you have to be a perfectionist - and a perfectionist's job is never done. Always tweaking things, adding and subracting elements to see a desired effect, etc.. But Jake, you and I need to get together man.

What does your aunt want the program to do? My best friend, Trevor, and I are currently working on a project for his work (a public company of which is stepfather is the CEO of) and we are hoping to make a large sum of money from this concept. I want to talk more with you about it.

well honestly, the program will do whatever I want it to do. In effect, I'm automating my job. What I do is purchasing for a plumbing contractor. When we get new jobs, we must submit the project to the general contractor via a portfolio of fixture diagrams, pictures, information, etc. After the submittal process, we need to order the items and keep track of when the shipments are to arrive and subsequently deliver them. After deliveries, each fixture must be billed for. Currently, it's a painstaking manual process. My goal is to automate three-quarters of that process which I think I can easily do with the software I got from my VB.net class (Visual Studio Pro 2005).

Anyway, I will give you a ring sometime, but if you feel like another person may be beneficial to your operation I'm more than willing to help out where I can.

You were right, it was a deep entry.
I know I don't tell you this nearly as much as I should...

I am extremely proud of you. Your accomplishments and your outlook(however new or old it is) on life. Just when I think I know what I am going to read you jump out with a new move and surprise the hell out of me. But what you say makes sense, and you say it ever so eloquently. I love it. I love you.
