"Working" from home.....

H is "working" from home while the new windows are being put in. Yucky brand new aluminium windows instead of the pretty, old, wooden ones. Wow they really picked the right time to do this! :/
Lucky it's mild for January...

I admit losing the charm of the old wooden french windows is the main reason I've been so reticent to call my landlord into fixing them. Plastic sheeting may not be all that attractive, but keeping the old charm more than makes up for this in the summer (i know, that's not so sustainable...).

Of course modern windows that retain the charm of the old windows are still available. They just cost a lot more. Would you be willing to pay more rent to live in a house with them instead of the cheaper (but still expensive) windows?

Sometimes life just sucks that way.

Yeah, I was hopoing beyond hope that they would be replaced by gorgeous teak. Uh oh.
