Life's too short...

Ever get the idea the universe is trying to tell you something? Today was one of those days. Slept in, and was nearly late for work; annoying, but all good. Get to work, get stuck into things... and get pulled aside by the manager. Have the usual moment of paranoia, but turns out I had it all wrong; one of the girls I work with had three cardiac ( Read more... )

It's always an eye-opener when someone dies or is dying young, especially when most of us expect to live to at least 80! I hope, if she doesn't make it, her husband and child can still carry on and have good lives.
For my part, I'm not afraid of death, whenever it happens to me. I think it's going to be fascinating. My only concern would be for my family and my cats, who'd have to go on without me.

I had to laugh at your boss. It sucks that you didn't get the promotion, but what a ridiculous reason! As far as I can remember, you've always spoken very well, so I highly doubt that you'd have put anything on! I'd also have thought an eloquent speaker would make a better employee, especially if it was anything to do with sales, customer service or dealing with other companies.

Enduring isn't so much the issue; I like my job, and in all honesty, I'm progressing a hell of a lot faster than I probably 'should' be. Just bad news piled on top of bad news that day.

As far as moving/support/etc; changing one's environment is never a cureall for anything. It may be good or bad; I dunno. I do think in a lot of respects I glorify the old days up north, and when I do go up I only get to see the good stuff, with none of the politics and crap to distract from it - people always put their best foot forward and bury grudges for special events, and that's what my visits are... And as far as moving... the longer I'm here, the more I like it. Six months ago I would left in a heartbeat. Now... it's actually getting to be a hard call. Cross that bridge when I come to it, I guess... unless you and your house o' mad bastards wanna move with me? *grin*
