Well, the double-clutching thing is going quite well. I've got it down pretty good when it's just downshifting, and I'm starting to work on when I'm braking at the same time. Much easier on the synchros, the shift lever just slides right into the next position, and I don't get the sudden deceleration when I let the clutch out in each gear, so I ( Read more... )

But I have been overtaken by the strangest urge to learn how to "double-clutch" when downshifting. I don't know why, there's absolutely nothing wrong with my transmission, and the synchros work perfectly, even after 276,000 miles. Wednesday night I saw a meteor, bright blue-white (nickel-iron) with just a hint of green (copper) in it streak down the sky near me as I was out having a smoke.
