I recently learned that the auction I went to last weekend raised $145K. Not too bad...but I remember a couple of years ago they raised around $175K. The procurement just wasn't as hot this year compared to other years and the economy is a bit tight for people to be more open with their wallets. Well, we just got back from the charity auction. Procurement wasn't as good this year compared to prior years, but we still did a few things. The charity sponsors a village in Cameroon among other things, and one of the things we did was a straight donation to activities in Cameroon. Well, after much thought we decided to downgrade our cabin on our cruise next year. Initially we booked a suite, but we decided to go with a regular balcony stateroom instead. That'll save us around $1,200 going that route. It would've been fun to have the suite, but there are better things we think we can do with the money. That savings will help ( Read more... )

Today I carved my pumpkin. I do the same exact thing each year because I've found that it works for me and nobody else around in our neighborhood does it. A few weeks ago I booked our flight for our cruise in May, which departs from Miami. Last week, Delta decided to change the first leg of our return flight. The first leg departed at 6:33 p.m. from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando and the connector departed at 6:03 from Orlando to Seattle ( Read more... )
