After weeks of off and on experimentation I found the magic formula for converting AVI to MPEG2 (DVDs). The trick is not to enlarge the picture with Quicktime, but with the utilities that come with the conversion software. I believe Quicktime optimizes the picture while it's playing, but not while frameservering. My previous test disks looked
