I found a lovely apartment last week, great location for me, large and with a lot of small details I loved, but I finally came to the realization it's just too expensive. Searching for a place to live in Japan is certainly a lot more difficult then the US. Price varies a LOT by location in the city, nearness to a station and even which lines you ( Read more... )

Are you staying in a LeoPalace type place right now, then, or just moving around?

If a LeoPalace type place, what city?

I'm paying $2K month for a house that I don't even live in (because I'm in Calif) and $1K a month for a dive of an apartment in LA. If I could sell the house I could, but I property is not selling in Dallas.

The apartment here has hot and cold leaky faucets, some of the electrical doesn't work, "God, the carpet is Awful - I Hate Purple Shag" and I'm only two blocks away from the local Crack Emporium!

Oh! Yea! The microwave (among other stuff) belongs in a museum and the ants come in the place via the drains in lumps - and they are the most organized labor I've seen work here so far! One more thing, we have had Killer Winds, Fire Fire everyware and to top it off, a Writers Strike!!!

Oh Wait! Disneyland! They have closed down the "It's a Small World" ride because People, who visit the park, have gotten so Fat that they keep braking the boats that they ride in! No Joke!

Things could be worse!

If I remember right, an apartment in Japan for westerners cost about $3K when I was last there. Is that what your facing?

Late reply. :) well, I didn't get the place I talked about in the post. Someone else applied shortly before I did and got it instead. I got a new place somewhere around 180 ft^2. Really small, but I don't think it has leaky faucets and fault electrical. I'm sorry, it sounds like you have a pretty crappy apartment for the money, and if I remember you weren't really close to much of anything.

I'm paying about what you are for my apartment. Tokyo isn't the most expensive anymore. That's taken by Moscow, and both London and Seoul are ahead of it. I'm staying in a pretty expensive area though. After a lot of thought I decided location was most important to me. I probably could of found a bigger place further away, or if I looked for longer, but this is a real busy season and who knows how long that could of taken.

I get to move in this weekend (I think!) so I'm really excited! I finally get out of this really small place I'm in!

Sounds like a bargain to me! Well, I'm finally going to get my car registered in Calif. I've tried to avoid this but in Calif, you have to have it registered in the state to continue to have an Insurance card. If you don't have an Insurance card, bad things will happen! Texas will not let me insure from that state wile I'm in Calif. So.... Bummer! Good news is that the Navy liked my map and now they want a bigger and more elaborate one. Yo Hooo.. Job Security! at least until May or June.

The Writers Strike moves on and now everyone else in Hollywood is saying to the writers and the producers "Get a Grip and Get a Deal" as they marched down Hollywood Blvd this weekend.

Also, I found out that not only IT work is going to India but now more 3D work including Computer FX and 3D animation. Dreamworks and Pixar are out sourcing work there. The one thing that keeps me alive is the fact that I have to be a US Citizen to work on DOD stuff and that I'm at a higher level of experience than the average 3D model builder.

One More Disneyland Story: d_glenn November 15 2007, 07:12:30 UTC
Today Disneyland officials had to close down the "Parities of the Caribbean" ride because someone has introduced some kind of cloudy substance to the water that makes up part of the boat ride. The Anaheim city has-mat team was called to the park and they discovered that the contaminant was made up of cremated human remains (someones ashes).

Burnt offerings to Jack Sparrow, says I! ARR..ARR..!
