it's lonely at the top - iago pov, implied jafar/aladdinmercuriazsMarch 4 2011, 08:06:45 UTC
God damn everything. This is not my thesis.

Iago really thought that being in charge would be more fun. But it's overrated. There's only so many times he can shove crackers down the old sultan's craw before it gets old, and Jafar doesn't have any time to gloat with him or think up new things to do. Iago'd never idealize the guy, but whereas before it was Team Iago and Jafar, scheming and dreaming 24/7, now the boss is either off doing something sultanic or going up to that room and locking the door.
Iago listened in once, back when it first started, because for the life of him he couldn't figure out what kind of humiliating torture you did to somebody all alone. He listened the whole time. Then Jafar came out of the room, looking-- well Iago only saw that look when he'd been putting the whammy on the old sultan with ol' snake-eyes, or now when he tried that diplomacy thing on the kingdoms next door

Fuck a thesis, this was amazing! I love the different points of view. Oooo, Genie would be PISSED if he knew the whole truth. I love the way you kept Iago in character, too. Shoot, now I might have to give this a go too.

I love it! I can only imagine the angst if he ever did manage to break free and see Jasmine again.
Kudos!

Yeah, it would be . . . pretty hard for both of them, if they met again. I think it would have to be Jasmine who broke free and found Aladdin, though.
I'm glad you liked it!

That's so beautiful. I totally bought Aladdin's love for Jasmine. I bought everything, actually.
Where is the Genie in all this??? Is Iago super uncomfortable?
NOW I HAVE TO KNOW.

I imagine Genie's being miserable and stuck in his lamp while Jafar saves up his last wish.
I . . . confess I hadn't given much thought to Iago.
But, if you want to write it . . . we've had Jafar's POV and Aladdin's, why not Iago's . . .
