I realize that I had a bunch of comments and whatnot in my journal and other people's journals that I didn't respond to a few weeks back. Sorry about that. I usually respond to those things, but after my posting spree around election time things got hectic and I was sucked back into grad student land. It seems a little late to respond now, but ( Read more... )

I felt guilty for stopping visiting my therapist after only 2-3 sessions. It really wasn't anything personal though I do partially blame her. Her seats were terribly uncomfortable, she had a huge window that blinded me with the sun while I was talking, she asked if her intern could sit in - which I really didn't want but felt silly saying no, then she wanted me to try having sessions with her intern which again I felt silly saying no but didn't want to do it - so I just stopped.

Its stupid really, especially since I wish I could have a therapist again - I went for a reason. It sucks though because she was through my university so I see her around a lot and if I asked for a new person it'd probably be the same chairs and huge windows, and I'd see her ;P

ooh, I'm rambling.

Haha, yeah, all of us first and second years are stuck in the same room, regardless of who the therapist or client is. So if clients leave us because of the accomodations, then we're pretty much fucked. We don't have interns though...uh, but that's because we're just trainees.

Anyway, you should always feel free to say no when they ask you to do something like that. It's uncomfortable to have someone else in the room so it's perfectly understandable, and they have to respect your preferences. Really, it's in the ethical standards :) You could have also complained about the chair and the window, and they might be able to fix that too. Something to keep in mind for next time!

Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving.

hey Doc--how can you say it's 'sucky' about your client quitting on one hand, and 'i didn't take it personally' on the other?

ehh, i just wanted to comment, you're right. carry on. happy turkey day. :)

Wait, I don't understand why those two things have to be mutually exclusive...

Hope you had a happy Turkey Day as well!
