Are you sure it's actually an infection in his eyes, and not just that he's badly congested? Little Cat Z has had a nasty, nasty cold for over a week now, and it included her eyes getting really gross, but no one else in the family has had that problem, and it went away in a couple of days.
Now she's got another ear infection, instead.:-P
"Pink eye" is a very generic term, and can be caused by many things besides a bacterial infection.
You probably already know all of this, but "pink eye" is one of my pet peeves right now, so I want to make sure you do. I'm still somewhat convinced that when Thing Two was kept out of school for a week because of "pink eye," he was congested (since both Thing One and Little Cat Z had rheumy eyes over the weekend before he got sent home), and we gave him antibiotic drops (which he hated) for nothing.
That sounds a lot like what Little Cat Z was going through. I hate it. I feel so bad for her, but there's not much you can do.
If your doctor says it's okay (and if it's available in Canada, but I'm sure there's something similar at least), you can give babies Dimetapp . . . DM, I think it is, which helps with congestion. Our doctor gave us a dosage according to her weight, so it's definitely something you should talk to the doctor about, but it helps somewhat at least.
awwww that's sad...For you it's pink eye. For us it was ear infections. Every time I turned around for the first 2 years, Elizabeth had an ear infection. It sucked to see her hurting and not be able to do anything about it.

It seems to happen when he's got a cold, and no other time.
