There was an angel gardening in the dark.

And from somewhere beyond the bounds of the backyard, in the dark, there came the sounds of a teenage boy's footsteps and the soft bleating of a lamb.

The footsteps weren't really surprising, but Aziraphale looked up in some puzzlement at the bleating sound.

"Er...hello?"

"Sorry about that," Mack said as he moved toward the backyard proper with Delores's tether in hand. "Didn't mean to bother you. I'm just walking my, uh, sheep."

"Oh, that's quite all right, I just didn't realize anyone around here, er, had any pet sheep."

Aziraphale brushed his hands off on his jeans and held one out toward the young man. "I'm Aziraphale, I run the shop up front. I don't believe we've met."

Wow, it was kind of weird to not know a person's name the minute you met them. Disconcerting, in a way.

Ken had another one of those mysterious notes that led him to weird places.

This time, it was Phale's backyard.

"Wow, uhhh, hi," Ken said, glancing about.

Aziraphale had no idea the neighborhood could be so busy in the evening. Of course, at this hour he was usually ensconced in the library or the living room with a book, a doctor, or both.

"Good evening, Mr Miller. You look lost."

"I do," Aziraphale nodded, thinking it was a strange question to ask someone puttering around in a backyard behind a house. "The Leaf takes up the front of the house, but James and I live in the back and upstairs."
