Remember how I went to visit my cousin, her husband and their new baby recently?

Well, now my cousin's in the hospital. What was initially believed to be a simple blocked duct may actually be a MRSA infection. They will be doing an ultrasound tomorrow in an attempt to figure out what the problem is, and determine whether or not she will need ( Read more... )

hey, it's not like (at least i) check this every day ...

still ... i'm glad she's going to be okay! mrsa is some nasty-ass shit, so i'm glad it wasn't that (... if i'm reading you accurately).

Yes, I understand that not everyone is on LJ every day. However, there are quite a few people on my friends list that are on here pretty consistently.

The doctors are still not positive what she has, but they should be able to figure out what it is after they do the surgery.

Ack, sorry. This is the kind of thing I leave open in a Firefox tab to one side until I can think of something profound and intelligent to say, while idly carrying on the inane innuendo-laden banter elsewhere.

And then I end up leaving it for ages and eventually saying a very late "Aw, that sucks" and not being any help at all.

*hugs* From what I've gathered of the numbers, and hearing people talk about it who really ought to know what they're talking about, MRSA-related things happen from time to time but very rarely cause serious long-term problems, and it's some way from being the major media scare story it sometimes seems. But that probably makes it no less unpleasant or scary to have to deal with. It sounds like at least something's being done in fairly good speed, which implies that she's being taken good care of and should come through this well. You've got lots of those good thoughts coming from over here.

Thanks, and don't worry, I was just in a "woe is me, nobody cares" mood yesterday.

As far as they know, there's no MRSA, but she will need to be on IV drugs for a while.

*hugs* Have you heard anything yet? Your mom made it sound like you guys would know more by late last night or today.

*hugs back* Yeah, the surgery went well, and the doctors didn't find any scary drug-resistant infections.

That's good. Is breat-feeding still out for her now, or will she be able to do that again once she's healed up?

I cares! I just wasn't here...On LJ...

I hope she gets better. Anything otherwise would be most heinous.

Thanks, as I said above, I was just in a really emo mood yesterday.

She should be ok, but she's going to have to do the same thing you did (using an IV bag for an hour or so every day). Doubt she's going to watch Days while doing it, though. :)
