Carl, you don't just have a fire for music, you have a gift for it as well. If you focus on music, I know you can do whatever the hell you want with it. I love your parents, but if you didn't focus on your music, I know that I would be asking myself what you could have done, and I have a sneaking suspicion you would be asking the same question. You're lucky to know what you have a passion about, and to be so fucking good at it.

PS. I feel ya on the theater thing, hehe, though my part was small and we only had 8 performances, it kinda killed any semblence of academic stability I had...but it was fuuunnnnnn. Though I didn't get to learn tap :(

It kinda surprises me that your parents won't let you take music as ur concentration at college because they have to know how great and talented u are at it. I mean, you've only been doing it your whole life, and they can see how much of your life is affected by it. However, my parents also want me to major in something applicable and practical to getting a well-paid job in the future, and I know they're right. I could always do what I'm passionate about on the side as a hobby; I know I don't have to give it up. With the fine arts, it's also that you don't necessarily have to major in art to be an artist, music to be a musician, etc. So, as mad as you may be with me, I say I'm with the rents on this issue. Try and see their side...but remember what I was trying to say in the beginning of this post, you are an awesome musician and u should never give it up or let the passion for it die down.
