...was rather interesting. Ups and downs. I woke up at 9:30 still tired since, though I got a fair amount of sleep last night, I didn't get much the few before that. I stayed up though, since I had the concerto competition around 1, and I didn't want to be at all rushed. The concerto competition at Albion, for those who don't know, is where you ( Read more... )

If you want to be LJ Friend's Page kind about the long post thing, you can make an [lj-cut] tag.

I'll keep the lj-cut tag thing in mind for the future. As for the thing with the ladies, I don't generally worry about it, and I'm not out there actively trying to change my current situation. It's just one thing that I have a tendency to go off about when I'm in a bad mood (which I was last night, prolly due to being tired, but am not this morning).

bah! i personally think lj-cut should only be used for lots of quiz/meme results, surveys, and lists, y'know, those sorts of things. if we didnt want to read what you had to say, we wouldn't be your lj-friend:)

You're both full of it. With one of the concertos lasting the better part of 20 minutes (and I've heard that he REALLY deserved to win), they couldn't pick more than two other pieces. Gotta admit that Halie surprised me, but I would have shit myself if Angie didn't get in. I'm certain that the two of you were right up there in the lists...depending on Weakfield's ranking, I would guess 4 and 5 or 5 and 6...and neither is too shabby. You guys, just by participating, outdid people like me and Tom Carpenter, both of whom could have done quite well if we had put the work in and shown up. Unlike us, though, you did put the work in, and you did show up. Regardless of how you performed or how you were rated, that is something to be proud of. By participating, you beat 13 people who dropped out.

I agree with Steve. As much as these sort of things are about being the best and winning, what it's really about is being the best you musician you can possibly be. From what you said, it soundslike you did fricken awesome, and that's something do be proud of. You can't control the judges opinions or anyone else's performance, all you've got a hand on is your own. If you do that to the best of your ability, then you came out on top. Keep at it, it's something you love and the only way to lose is to quite.
