laptop vs desktop

I'm buying a computer for college and I'm trying to figure out what I should get. I know I have to get a Mac. because my major basically requires one, b/c it's so good with graphics and everything. The thing I can't decide is if I should buy a laptop or a desktop. I'm leaning more for the laptop because it's portable, but my parents are afraid

Christine~are u a pre-smad major? b/c i just changed my major to pre-smad. but they say technically i'm an undeclared major b/c i have to take classes beforehand in order to get into the major. can you tell what you know about the major and what concentration you are going to choose once u get into that major? THANKS! what is ur email, i can't find it???

Actually right now I am a pre-smad major, but I think I'm going to change that because I want a more art based study which would be Graphic Art. (So I would be an art major with an concentration in graphic art) There is a basic class that you must take to be a pre-SMAD major, and after you finish that class you have to take the test to be admitted into the SMAD program. The SMAD program is less art based, it concentrates mainly on visual based communication. In the orientation that I went to, the Professor stressed the fact that the SMAD program really tries to develop your English skills. If you want to know more you can email me at ca2285@hotmail.com
