There IS such thing as a free lunch...

... in fact, I was paid 20 cents to be a patron at this fine establishment today. Here's how it worked. I used the drive-through of a large corporate fast food restaurant, and my order came to a total of $4.80. I decided to pay with a $10 and 5 pennies, asking the nice lady who helped me to give me a quarter back. What I expected was $5.25. ( Read more... )

I have a question for you. :)

I used to listen to your station every morning but to be honest, lately, it's been...kinda lame in the morning. There doesn't seem to be a lot of new material. So much so that I've turned to my UK friends to get something fresh to listen to. :( What's up with your station?

There's not as much new material on the morning show? Interesting. I haven't noticed anything different about it. While they may not play quite as much "new material" as the rest of us do throughout the day, it's still pretty fresh. Just today, they played the new one from VHS or Beta, for example. Hope you decide to keep tuning in.

That might be - I can only listen during my 20-25 minute commute between 7 and 8 AM. Don't get me wrong, I *love* you guys but lately...I dunno. :(

This morning, I heard The Police, The Killers, Fatboy Slim (Rockafeller Skank - which, when it came on, made me want to cry with frustration). Perhaps it's just the early am gig.

The list seems to perk up after noon, but the pre-noon list - the number of songs that were from this year seemed so under-represented, not 'fresh'. :(

Is there a reason that bands that I've learned about from my UK friends aren't on US stations? Is it a licensing issue? I love bands like Babyshambles, Dirty Pretty Things, Fratellis, Kings of Convenience, Libertines, Maximo Park...but I don't hear them on the radio here - is it the time of day and you do play that and it's just my karma or is there some issue with hearing new talent?

I hope I haven't offended you, I have the utmost respect for you and the station and I guess that's what distresses me most....

No offense taken. We're here for your feedback! A lot of the bands you've mentioned do indeed have a big UK following, but like many things in Europe, I think it takes a little while for it to catch on here Stateside. Maximo Park and The Fratellis we do play now and again. Have you tried listening in to our "Passport Approved" show? It's all fresh new import material and airs from 6p to 8p on Sunday nights.
