Need some advice

My 14 year old miniature schnauzer's health has been failing for some time. He is mostly blind, mostly deaf, has a fatty tumour on his leg, and has what the vet says is "cognitive dissonance" but we just say is doggie dementia. Plus he is losing some motor control in his legs and now has been diagnosed with early stages of renal failure ( Read more... )

It's a tough decision, but it sounds like it's time to let him go. He sounds like his quality of life must be low, even if he's not showing distress. *hugs*

Thank you. That was my thought as well but I wasn't sure if my frustration was clouding my judgement. His "listing" is even worse this morning, I think it is time for the call.

So sad and so hard for all of you. But things can only get worse from this point, if you do nothing, causing more worry and grief. He's already in the process of leaving you, and I think the best thing you can do is to let him go.
