If no one else is going to do it....

Seeing as the Brisbane advertising system is up the shitter as per usual I guess someone (read me) will have to let people know STUFF.

Firstly Evil D of Genitorturers is going to be on Triple J tonight talking to Haugy about the up coming Australian tour.
Speaking of Genitorturers.... The As well advertised as The Auschwitz holiday camps tour of ( Read more... )

I'm interested to know what you suggest for what we do for advertising and how it's paid for since we did announce multiple times online, and organise Triple J stints, and street press, magazines, flyer runs and as much word of mouth as could be organised. There's a severely limited budget for such advertising and we push it as much as possible.

Umm so you are having something to do with one or other of these shows.??
The only names I have heard connected to either of these shows are "Some metal guy in Sydney" (as far I know this is not you unless the move south has had some serious changes) and Richard (faith, lovecats etc.. and only because of the venues website and from Mark (Greenmantle) who mentioned it to me months ago.
I do not wish to discuss my nor your business dealings with you, particularly in an open forum such as this and more so when the ultimate purpose of the post was to get peoples attention to an upcoming event and nothing more.
My only tip is if budget is so limited, add to the budget or rethink the logistics.

Genitorturers are being brought out by Rivetting Promotions which is primarily Joseph Chillari and I. Joseph could pretty easily be mistaken for a metal guy though that's not his thing. Richard manages the shows in Brisbane.

My only tip is bite your tongue until you understand the logistics at all.

just for the record, about 5 or 6 years ago, I along with a Brisbane promotions company were in negotiations with Genitorturers to run an Australian tour. After MUCH consideration and many tears (as those involved would have sold their grandmother to see the band tour) the tour was canned due to the logistics involved. I don't have to tell the world my business transactions.

I love the way you're a "martyr for the cause" btw. It's not actually as simple as you think and your assumptions about how things happen and why are phallacy based on not having run such a tour yourself. When you do tell me how successful you were with advertising and I'll be sure to mock you publicly and then take the credit.

You haven't picked up street press or watched your friends lists in LJ or Myspace much of late buddy. I've been seeing my blogs get replicated all over about this and I'm surprised you didn't catch them.

For the coming Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of November I managed to get time off work to be able to enjoy some of the most exciting work I've organised in a while.

Thursday will find me doing a photo shoot with Genitorturers the day before their gig here in Brisbane and I'm hoping to be able to later share some of that with DA. Not sure of theme or venue just yet - it's depending on their schedules - yet to be advised.

Friday will be the much anticipated CyberBall - featuring the Genitorturers, supported by CandyPain from the Gold Coast and by The Mercy Dolls from Brisbane topped off by a fine fashion show by Redshift Clothing.

I'll be shooting the bands and the fashion parade (and helping run the parade) and I'll be shooting socials for Fiend magazine, so be brave about the heat and get in your finest PVC fetish gear and ( ... )

I do actually, that's how I found out about Apop, YOUR myspace. As for Gen the only advertising online (myspace/lj etc) is what Gen herself has put up As for street press there was a line in the gig guide about Gen a few months back, admittedly a more recent one may have more. maybe I don't have "the right" friends!
