I just ran a seminar today for 40 grade 9 / 10 girls here at UW for a mini-conference called "Think About Math." It went pretty well, although I stupidly didn't check to see that the laptop I was demo-ing on had the same version of Excel as the girls did on their computers, making my demo useless. I went to the university choir concert this evening. I'm usually a pretty harsh critic of it (it's sort of the FASS of choirs - anyone who wants in gets in, and my usual line is I'm glad it exists, but I don't necessarily enjoy listening to it) but this term's concert was nothing short of phenomenal! Our next door neighbour (who shares a wall with us) is having new carpet installed, so all I could hear all morning was the scraping sound of the workers taking out the old carpet and underpad. Not conducive to sleeping in!

My grandfather died on Friday evening. Stephen and I found out while visiting wedding venues. The next day, we went to help plan out the readings etc for the service, and one of them is going to be the 1 Corinthians one (that's often said at weddings.)
