Near can feel his cheeks getting hot. Oh, there's no way Mello is going to miss this, but there's no way Near is going to let Mello catch him blushing, so he goes to spin his chair around and -

-and Mello is there, practically in his lap, with a pistol pointed clear and steady at his left temple. Near blinks as if Mello just turned the lights on high and pulled open the shades. “What -”

“If you touch that intercom, I swear to God I will fucking kill you right here,” Mello hisses.

“Mello, you know I wasn't going to -” Then Near freezes.

Mello is straddling him. Pointing a gun at his head. And hissing.

Fuck.OK, there's no way Near can hide the blushing now, but maybe he can ( ... )

So when Mello stands, face contorted with derision, and runs a single finger down the length of Near's torso, Near is almost able to keep the sheer aching out of his eyes. There's a sheen of sweat on Mello's vest where it touched Near's skin. Mello is leaning forward now, hands on the arms of the chair, and if Near could make out the words through the haze of not touching him, he would be speaking.

“...think you're better... fucking pathetic... at night, don't you?... fucking deformed...” His fingers trace crazy patterns on Near's chest, so light it's touch but really it's not, and Near is going to have to say it.

“Mello.”

“...fucking ridiculous...”

“Mello.”

Mello's voice stops. His eyes say, “Don't, don't,” but his fingers slide downward, downward, and now Near has a choice, but he's going to choose wrong either way. And the words Near is about to say are going to bring him lower than any of Mello's insults ever could.

“Mello, pleaseMello looks at Near through his lashes as he falls to his knees, all practiced slick coy ( ... )

O.o I'm doing an edit of this to possibly de-anon on, if I can iron out enough of the run-ons and such. Anyway, I just almost cut that line due to excessive cheesiness/obviousness. Maybe I'll have to keep it?
