The only time L would remove the handcuffs was before and after showers. He'd never showered every day before the beginning of the investigation, as he didn't find it necessary. He only complied to do so after enduring a harangue about personal hygiene from Light. However, L, being L, he didn't let Light shower by himself. The detective accompanied the Kira suspect in showers and even kept the handcuffs on in the shower. This was supposedly just in case Light was planning to run away, not that he would get very far in such a case

Before L could provide a response, Light forcefully shoved his tongue into L's mouth. Both of their tongues invaded the other's mouth hungrily as Light's hand crept downwards. Light's fingers wrapped around L's length and began stroking. Thanks to the shampoo the movements were faster, causing L to groan deeply
