L tended to avoid it by eating up on the roof, but it was freezing today, and not even he could ignore the winter storm that had hit the city. So he sat next to Light, with Light's friends around them. The other students chattered and gossiped, and L noticed that, as usual, Light paid a dull sort of attention to them. He looked attentive enough, of course, but L was the same as him, so he could easily see the boredom just behind his eyes
