'The Couple in the Cave' Ep Reaction - SPOILERS

My immediate post-ep reaction, so I reserve the right to totally have a different opinion in a few days...

And I'm very conflicted about things so expect me to contradict myself a dozen times ...

On to my reactions:

Agreed. That's what makes a good journalist, I would think, being able to feel out each individual person you have to interview. Makes me wonder how fast she's going to cop on to the whole wreckage of emotions between B&B. Booth also has a bit of that; we've seen him use it to get info during investigations at times.

Brennan basically spelled it out for Booth when they were in the bar at the endOriginally she seemed like she was trying to feel him out to see if maybe he and Hannah would end now that they're separated. At the beginning of the ep, she said something like, "Maybe you weren't really in love with her," and then she was being a bit snarky (or maybe nosy in her awkward way) with the "I wouldn't make any comparisons to your situation." Like, she just had to keep pointing out that Hannah was

Oh, the Clark thing was totally about Booth. You hit the nail on the head with your assessment there. I think she feels very betrayed by the fact that Booth took her word for everything, and then when she turned out to be wrong - he had already moved on. Well, says he's moved on. (Repeatedly).

He certainly is! It's not his style. He wasn't like that with his girlfriend in S1, Tessa. Cam and Booth were sneaking around and we didn't see much of him and Catherine, no it doesn't seem like Booth. I think he wants to be happy and if he was over Brennan he wouldn't be rubbing her nose in his happiness. It's as if he is still upset about her "No" in the 100 epi.

I don't think he's really doing it to rub her nose in it, though. It's almost as if he has to keep pushing it to convince himself and to convince her and everyone else. Because he knows that if he allows himself to be vulnerable around her, if he lets down his guard, he's going to fall right back into his old patterns.

That moment at the diner when she basically told him he'd proved her theories correct was so painful - but awesome writing. Now if Booth would only
hear it!!

Yeah, Booth for all his investigative skills and intuition is very dense all of a sudden.

It's like he's totally forgotten how to read her. Actually, I think he's trying really, really hard NOT to get what she's saying because he would have to face some very painful truths.

I agree that he's trying really hard. Trying to be happy and make something work with Hannah, and also trying to prove to himself (and everyone else) that he's succeeding in moving on.

As for Angela, I think its the whole pregnancy thing that is making her a bit different from our old Angela, but she'll be back. Hitting Booth over the head for being an ass.
The whole scene at the bar in the end...you are so right. I was watching that and thinking just that. Booth is in love with someone else after (well technically he never said that he was in love with her, but we all knew that he is) just a few months!

Yeah, I'm a little mad at our Booth right now, after that scene in the bar.

I want to shake him and say, "You're proving her right!"

I think she's going to get bored in D.C. and pull a Sully and ride off into the sunset.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure she's going to leave. HH and SN really seem to like the actress. But she will end her relationship with Booth, and as far as I'm concerned, that's good enough, especially since I like the character.

All in all, I feel heart-crushed for Brennan, a little ticked off at Booth, annoyed that Angela doesn't seem to be getting it, and hopeful - all rolled into one. This is pretty much where I am as well, though having been through JAG I'm maybe a little cynical about how this could all play out. Part of me thinks s6 could be B&B's season, and part of me remembers JAG and thinks s6 might be B&H. Then s7 (assuming Bones survives a B&H s6) could be pretty much like s7 of JAG was. And God help us all if HH et al do an equivalent of the Paraguay arc on Bones. *shudder

Oh yeah, shades of JAG. At least I like Hannah - I couldn't handle a Renee or Brumby.

The one thing we have on Bones that we didn't have on JAG is that the actors and the show creators/writers seem to genuinely want a relationship between B&B at some point, which is a far cry from DPB&Co. So even though they may drag this out for some time, I think there's an eventual goal to have them together.

And I am totally heart-crushed at how alone she is. The whole "my life is exactly how I expected"? Gah.

I think Hannah may be around the whole season, because I do think they like her. But I definitely think they're setting things up so that she's the one to walk out on him. (WHich I can't say I don't think he deserves - I'm a little annoyed with Booth right now)

I am, too, though it has nothing to do with Hannah's existence and everything to do with the way he's treating Bones. I understand she hurt him, but he's really being obnoxious at times, and it makes me grind my teeth.

Yeah, he's being a total jerk. I'm not saying it's all totally intentional - I mean, we've all had friends that were pretty obnoxious when they first found a new love and had to tell us about it all the time. But it's not as though she was cruel, or led him on, or broke his heart on purpose. He went for it - gambled - and it didn't work out. I see no need for rubbing it in that he moved on.

Okay,sorry, not trying to Booth-bash. I just get madder the more I think about it :)

I've caught up with the rest of the (Bones)world!

Like you, I reserve the right to change my mind as I only watched the epi today. My reactions are nearly similar to yours.

The only difference is that I think Angela gets it, but she has given up/decided not to push Brennan anymore. And besides, Hannah seems to be a nice person and Angela is nice too, so I don't see her plotting any devious schemes to get Hannah out of the way.

In a way I think Hannah, as a temporary character, is what the show needs at this point, that or they would have had to let B&B finally get together. It just wouldn't have been plausible to let them go on they way they have so far.

I think someone like Hannah is a necessary evil at this point but I hate to see Booth be happy with anyone but Brennan! I agree that they were stretching plausibility for a while there.
