The joys of being a doctor, and apparently a parent

So I've been reading Jeff Vogel's discussions about his first year or so of parenting. Much of it is amusing, in a "smile and nod" sort of way. And then there was this, on TV and movie "newborns":

First, the baby always comes out impossibly clean. Second, it comes out impossibly huge. Now, instead of "How cute!", I'm more likely to say something ( Read more... )

LOL - even before I had a newborn, I always would think that! I didn't know how old the babies were, but the clean ginormous babies?! WTF?

For some reason (OK, it's because I'm in avoidance on writing a film review) I thought of reading an actor's bio on IMDB and seeing their first role at 6 months.

I remember, sometime in the 1970s, my mother commenting that it wasn't really a newborn baby playing the newborn baby on the episode of The Waltons where John-John delivers a baby. "Too big and too cute," she said. "Even you were red and scrunched up and ugly when you were born, Ann." (and tiny, too... 5 pounds 12 ounces and very long.)
