I'm dazed and a little drunk. The movie was super-enjoyable, and then there was drinking to celebrate: apparently, a unanimous vote in favor of tenure, and even the dreaded "outside letters" (medievalists at other institutions, who can be a bitch) were uniformly positive

Yaaay! What we're saying is that, if some upper-level committee tried now to say that I was somehow NOT worthy of tenure, they'd not just have me, they'd have The English Department to deal with. And The ENglish Department (for all its faults) is MIGHTY. YAAY! Mighty department!!!
